three years

Though I try to keep it under wraps I am the cheesiest, most passionate, romantic geek in the world.  However, I recognize that not everyone shares these sentiments.  I mostly try to keep this side of me at bay, sparing you from any impulse to gag or roll your eyes at my silliness.  But today?

Today is the day I married the best man I know.  And I cannot help but let a little bit of this gushy side of me loose.  For Ian is my greatest blessing.  My confidant.  My companion.  My hero.  My best friend.

Do you know how many times I've said the words: "Where did I find this guy?"
A man who cooks, cleans, and is so creative it makes me sick.  A guy who writes good music, enjoys the occasional chick flick, and makes my stomach ache with laughter.  A person so handsome I never tire of his face, who makes me feel gorgeous and always knows the right thing to say when I'm feelin' down.  Someone who I miss when I don't see all day even though I see him every day.  Someone who inspires me to be my best and makes me believe that I can be.

okay okay. I know my limit is almost up.  Just one more thing.  Brace yourself.

"To blaave.  And as we all know, 'to blave' means to bluff!  Which means he was playing cards, and he cheated!"

Couldn't do it to you.  I hope this quote is sufficient to explain what I could have said.  It's real folks.  And it's worth living for.  And if you don't know what the above quote is from, or to what I'm referring... shame on you.  And go watch Princess Bride.

Just know this.  I consider my marriage to Ian to be the greatest decision of my life.  Nothing has brought me sweeter happiness or more joy.  So, on to eternity!  What fun.

dog park

Saturday, December 3, 2011

It is far too warm for December.  And while we're secretly crossing our fingers for snow, we cannot deny how lovely the weather has been.  Lexington is just plumb gorgeous.

We took Coca to the dog park today.  We're dogsittin' James' baby while he's is in New York.  We also had fun playing around with a 35mm lens.  The results are these:

fyi: I have a theory that Ian has the soul of a puppy.  This theory has only deepened through the years.  Dogs flock to Ian everywhere we go.  There are times when he'll be on a walk and come home with three dogs trailing behind him.  He is one of them.  Situations like today remind me of my theory full force.  Did you see that tongue photo?  I'm surprised the picture wasn't blurry.  I was not holding the camera very still at the time, if you can imagine.

But seriously.  Where's the snow, people.  We're ready for ya.
Dreaming of a white Christmas and all that.  Chop, chop.

In token of my gratitude and as a means of promoting communication between adjoining nations, shouting from windows being forbidden, I shall provide a post office in our hedge, to further encourage the bearing of our souls and the telling of our most appalling secrets. I do pledge never to reveal what I receive in confidence here.

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer,
is singing loud for all to hear."

Music is such a huge part of my Christmas.  Do you mind if I share some?  Sharing is my favorite.  The playlist below are selections from my popChristmas.  It's more alternative than not.  I like to mix in some new with the old sometimes.  So here is the first of (hopefully) a few lists this year.  Please enjoy.  I certainly have.

christmas spirit

Thursday, December 1, 2011

We've been pretty consumed by the Christmas spirit this year.  I was even a little surprised that today was the first day of December.  Haven't we been in December for a while now?  Anyway... Ian made my day on Tuesday when he called from work and asked me to pick him up early so that we could find a tree in the daylight.  We are now the happy owners of a pretty tree that has brought with it the greatest scent ever.  After the tree salesman trimmed up the bottom for us, I was nosy and asked if I could take home the reject pieces.  I think I need to do this from now on.  I love having the trimmings on the mantle!  And I love having a mantle!  Oh... and remind me to one day own a holly tree.  I snipped a few sprigs of holly off the tree in our front yard.  Too easy.  It's so festive!  Love it.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas over here!

'Tis the season.  Merry Christmas!!
